Laser Rental to Treat Veins
Not many people are aware that a simple laser treatment can get rid of those unsightly and/or painful spider veins. Yes, it is true! If your patients have spider veins that they really want to have disappear, and you thought that surgery or injections were the only solution, think again! Let me tell you how it works.
Spider Veins
Spider veins are tiny vessels that appear on the surface of the skin and often resemble the sprouting network of a spider’s web. They may be blue, red and purple, and may or may not be accompanied by uncomfortable symptoms like burning and itching. Patients can get spider veins on any part of the body, the most common is on legs but also the face.
How Laser Vein Procedure Works
Laser therapy is a proven, non-invasive and safe treatment for the common blue, red and purple facial and leg veins.
The laser work by emitting light through the skin that is absorbed by the blood in the vessel. The laser injures the vessel wall that causes the vein to break up and disappear.
The laser works over the surface of the skin, eliminating spider veins without needles. The laser headpiece cools and numbs the area where the vessel are being treated reducing discomfort and protecting the skin. Most patients describe the treatment as feeling like a slight pin prick or rubber band snap.
The laser device allows for precise delivery of energy to the affected vein while avoiding surrounding skin or tissue. The process takes just a few minutes to complete and requires minimal downtime afterwards.
The lasers highly focused beam of light can also be used to treat some larger veins, as long as they are not raised above the skin surface. Laser vein therapy is also a great second treatment step, after a larger varicose vein stripping, surgery, or sclerotherapy because it can treat the small vessels which these other procedures cannot.
With laser vein therapy, 2-3 treatments may be necessary depending on the size of the vein. The treatments are scheduled every 6 to 12 weeks as that is how long it can take the body to absorb the blood vessel. Most treatments do not require compression stockings and only stoppage of vigorous exercise for 1-3 days is needed.
IPL – To Treat the tiniest Spider Veins
When the skin has diffused redness we will use combination treatment, including IPL for better results. This additional modality is available on the Cutera Xeo laser system. Intense Pulsed Light Therapy, also known as IPL or photo-facial rejuvenation, is an amazing non-invasive procedure that utilizes light energy to eliminate skin blemishes and discolorations. IPL is effective in treating vascular lesions such as rosacea, angiomas and the tiniest of spider veins. It also is extremely effective on a wide range of pigmented skin lesions, including age spots, sun damage, freckles, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Your patients will get multiple positive effects from this procedure.
What to Expect After Laser Vein Treatment
After the procedure your patient may be a little red in the area that was treated which can easily be covered with make-up. The redness usually subsides within 24 hours. Larger veins can take the body longer to absorb so there may be some bruising of the vessel area as it heals.
